Brockville – The 89th Ontario Senior Men’s Amateur Golf Championship wrapped up a week of play at the Brockville Country Club on Thursday.
156 of Ontario’s best senior golfers (ages 55+) were in Brockville this week to play in the Golf Ontario major championship.
The winner of the tournament was Dave Bunker, coming in second was Adam Creighton and in third was Ashley Chinner.
Two important presentations were made on Thursday after the tourney at the Trophy Presentations for the 89th Ontario Senior Men’s Amateur Golf Championship. First, a plaque was presented by Golf Ontario CEO Kyle McFarlane to Host Committee Chair David P. Dargie and Assistant Golf Professional A.J. Howe in appreciation for the Brockville Country Club hosting this major championship.
As well a cheque for $10,000 was presented by Honorary Tournament Chair, Larry Robinson, Host Committee Chair David P. Dargie, and Golf Ontario CEO Kyle McFarlane to Laura Roobol, Team Leader of the Weekender Program for Kids.
It was a 54-hole tournament that started on Monday, July 22nd with a practice round for all the competitors. The tournament began on Tuesday, July 23rd & Wednesday, July 24th will see all 156 players on the course. A cut to 60 players (and ties) will be made for the final 18 holes on July 25th.
On Monday evening was a Welcome Cocktail Party and “Hot Stove Hockey Talk” which featured Montreal Canadiens Hall of Famer, Larry Robinson and another Canadiens alumnus, as well as Ottawa Senators President and CEO Cyril Leeder, Sens fan favourites, Chris Neil and Brianne Jenner, Captain of the PWHL Team Ottawa and Team Canada Olympic Gold Medalist.
