
Maitland – Evonik Canada Inc. announced on Thursday the investment of more than $8.9 million to boost local manufacturing and create five new jobs while retaining twenty-nine other good-paying jobs at their Maitland site in Augusta Township.
The announcement was made at Evonik’s Maitland facility on Thursday, October 10th by Evonik Canada President, Douglas Woods.
In support of Evonik Canada’s investment, the Government of Ontario is providing Evonik Canada with $1,249,853 in funding through the Regional Development Program’s Eastern Ontario Development Fund for their project.
“Evonik is very appreciative of the Ontario government’s support of our efforts at the Maitland site,” said Douglas Woods, President of Evonik Canada. “I am confident this strategic investment will springboard additional growth for the company and the region.”

The investment includes the purchase of new equipment to manufacture new grades of hydrogen peroxide, allowing the company to expand their operations at the Maitland plant.

The Ontario government said it is investing $180 million through its Regional Development Program to help manufacturers across the province grow while supporting distinct regional priorities. To date, Ontario has supported more than 130 projects through the program, leveraging more than $1.8 billion in new investments and helping to create over 3,400 jobs.
