Investigators Seeking Witnesses and Potential Victims
Westport – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested an individual after disturbing incidents in the Westport area.
There have been multiple reports since mid-September of a male masturbating in a parked car at a gas station parking lot, as well as following women in the community. It’s believed harassing behaviour has been taking place since July of this year.
As a result of the investigation, an arrest was made on October 20, 2024.
Luc BEAUCLAIR, age 37 of Perth Road near Sydenham Lake, is charged with:
- Criminal harassment – repeatedly following, watching and threatening conduct
- Committing an indecent act in a public place – three counts
The accused remains in custody at this time with a bail hearing scheduled for Tuesday, October 29, 2024, before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.
The investigation is ongoing, and officers are concerned that there could be other victims. Investigators want to hear from anyone who may have experienced similar incidents involving a man in a red Ford Escape.
Always be aware of your surroundings and personal safety. If you ever feel you are in danger, move to a public place if possible and call the police.
