Annual Brockville New Year’s Day Levee Held on Wednesday

Two Council Members Were Also Honoured!

Brockville – The annual City of Brockville New Year’s Day Levee was held on Wednesday, January 1st welcoming in the new year.

This year it was held at the Brockville Memorial Centre with the official formalities and included free skating for the public.

Area mayors in attendance included Elizabethtown-Kitley Mayor Brant Burrow, Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Mayor Tory Deschamps, Augusta Mayor Jeff Shaver, Mayor Gauri Shankar and United Counties Warden/Mayor of Leeds & the Thousand Islands Corinna Smith-Gatcke, and Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Deputy Mayor Stephen Dillabough.

In addition, Hon Col Anne Johnston, Hon Lt Col Mark Ross, and Major Keurvers of the Brockville Rifles were in attendance along with members of the Brockville Infantry Company.

This year’s Levee included special recognition for two members of council who were involved in notable projects in 2024:

Councillor Nathalie Lavergne for her involvement in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

Your commitment to ensuring that our athletes had the resources and support they needed to succeed on the world stage is truly admirable. Your leadership not only helped elevate Team Canada’s performance but also highlighted the importance of inclusion and accessibility in sports.

We are proud of your efforts and grateful for the positive impact you’ve had on both our athletes and our community.”

Councillor Jeff Earle for his behind-the-scenes work on attracting the Netflix production of Hot Frosty to Brockville.

Your dedication and hard work in attracting such a high-profile project have not only enhanced our City’s reputation but also provided a significant boost to our local economy and cultural scene.
