Five People to Be Added to the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame This Year

Brockville – The Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame has announced this year’s inductees into the Hall of Fame.

The five that will be inducted this year are:

• Kevin McDonald, who played professional hockey;
• Stan Smith a 10-pin bowling champion and owner of the Brockville Bowling Centre;
• Whit Prophet, who has been involved with the Brockville Braves for decades;
• Jackie Rassenberg, who was an outstanding athlete;
• Coach and former Brockville Brave Darren Burns.

As well, Vicki Sargent is Volunteer of the Year, and Janet Wynands is receiving the Coaching Award for track and field.

The five nominees for Team of the Year are:

• TISS Sr. Boys Basketball,
• TISS Sr. Girls Basketball,
• Brockville Privateers Rugby,
• Ange Gabriel Sr. Girls Basketball,
• U-18 Brockville Angels.

The five nominees for sports person of the year are:

• Simon Mack – Hockey,
• Chad Valcour – Pickleball,
• Adam Falco – Golf,
• Jackson Witham – Track & Field,
• Grady Spicer – Hockey.

The Kinsmen Sports Awards dinner is set for June 12th at the Brockville Memorial Centre. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is taking place on June 13th.

Tickets are $30 for the awards dinner and will be on sale by the end of the month.
