Brockville YMCA Gymnasium Expansion Update – Construction Begins Soon

Brockville – The YMCA of Eastern Ontario is about to begin construction on the gymnasium expansion at the Brockville location.

“This project is an important investment in the future of our community, and we’re excited to break ground,” said Rob Adams, CEO, YMCA of Eastern Ontario, in a news release to members today.

Prework for construction is set to begin later this week, and Adams says there will be a few temporary changes around the site.

Here is what to expect:

• Fencing will be installed around the work site to ensure safety for everyone using the facility.
• A portion of the north parking lot will be closed off for construction equipment and materials. Please allow extra time when arriving, especially during busy periods.
• The gazebo will be relocated to accommodate the expansion. It will be repositioned after construction is complete.
• Access to the outdoor courts will remain unchanged, so you can continue to enjoy them as usual.
• The green space between the gymnasium and outdoor courts will be closed off for the duration of the project.

“We understand that these changes may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience as we work to enhance our facility. We’ll continue to provide updates and a more detailed Q&A as construction progresses and look forward to opening the new and expanded gymnasium for our members and the community,” Adams added.

The YMCA of Eastern Ontario announced the expansion in April, and funding for phase one has been secured, allowing the much-needed expansion and renovation to move forward.

Phase 1 Project will include:

• Expansion of the gymnasium to accommodate more sports and recreation programming
• Installation of new regulation-sized basketball, volleyball, and additional pickleball courts
• A flexible gym layout with an electric curtain divider for simultaneous programming
• Renovations to the women’s and family changerooms
• Upgrades to the parking lot, main hallways, and roof
