Brockville Bunnies Results from Alex Turner Memorial Tournament Held Over Weekend

Plattsburgh, NY – The Brockville Bunnies travelled to Plattsburgh, NY for the Alex Turner Memorial Tournament over the weekend, and although they only came away with one win with a chance at a couple more, the team knows what will lead to better results. The team had 36 walks and committed 9 errors in 4 games, which needs to improve, said the Bunnies organization

On the bright side, the Bunnies outhit their opponents in 3 of 4 games and stole 13 bases without being caught.

Game 1:

The Bunnies lost a 14-11 decision to the Diamonds JV in their first game of the tourney on Friday night. Bunnies pitcher Aaron Roy gave up a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 7th to take the loss. Wyatt Brandwood started going 1.2 innings. Wyatt Last (d,2s,3rbi), Zadok Roiger with 3 hits each and Charlie Todd with 2 doubles. Ben Buxton doubled with singles by Ryan Robinson, Levi Biller, Mark Bowlby, Adam Bergman and Brandwood.

Game 2:

In game two, Brockville won 4-3 over the Clinton County Juniors. The Bunnies scored a winning run in the bottom of the 7th on a perfectly executed suicide squeeze by Mark Bowlby to score. Wyatt Last had the winning run in the bottom. Sanger with the pitching performance of the season so far, going a complete game on 89 pitches. Last, Sanger and Bowlby had 2 hits each and singles by Robinson, Bowlby, Roy and Biller.

Game 3:

In game three, the Bunnies lost 5-4 to the Titans 17u. Levi Biller started with Ben Buxton getting the loss in relief. Biller had 3 hits(d,2s) while Bowlby had 2. Singles by Last, Buxton, Sanger and Roy.

Game 4:

In game 4, the Titans 18u beat the Bunnies 14 – 6. The Bunnies’ pitching depth was tested with Last, Bowlby, Robinson and Bergman all throwing some innings. Sanger and Biller with 2 hits and 2 RBI each. Robinson tripled while Buxton doubled. Overall, on the bases, Last had 4 steals, Bowlby and Biller 3 each, Sanger and Roy with a pair and Robinson with 1. The Bunnies’ record goes to 4-6 on the season, and hopefully starts trending upwards with Todd and Roiger added to the pitching staff.

The Brockville Bunnies travel to Montreal on Saturday for CanAm league action, taking on the Diamonds JV before returning home to Fulford to take on the Titans 17u in a doubleheader starting at 11 am and 2 pm.
