
Gananoque – Police reports from the Gananoque Police Service from January 4th to February 2nd, 2026.
Spousal Assault:
On January 4th, 2026, a 9-1-1 call was received by the emergency communicator that sounded like two people arguing, before the phone was taken from the caller and hung up by a second party.
Officers were able to locate the two individuals where it was determined that a 63-year-old person from Gananoque had assaulted the victim and threatened to kill them. As a result, the accused was arrested and charged with: Assault – Spousal, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm-Spousal.
The accused was held in custody pending a show cause bail hearing.
Assault with a Weapon:
On January 7th, 2026, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of an assault with a weapon that occurred at a business. A verbal argument occurred at the business and the accused became irate, assaulting the victim with a metal tool.
The 34-year-old person from Kingston was arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon x2. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.
Spousal Assault:
On January 11th, 2026, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of a person breaking into an apartment window and entering the residence, then chasing the occupant down the street. Officers located the victim and a warrant was obtained for the suspect who had fled the scene.
On January 17th, 2026, the 33-year-old accused from Elgin was arrested by a neighbouring agency and turned over to the Gananoque Police Service. As a result, they were charged with: Assault – Spousal, Assault Cause Bodily Harm – Choke, suffocate or strangle, Theft Under $5000, and Failure to comply with release order x3.
They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.
Uttering Threats/Causing Bodily Harm:
On January 12th, 2026, officers received a report of ongoing harassment and threats. Due to the nature of the unwanted contact, an arrest warrant was sought.
On January 16th, 2026, the 33-year-old person was located and arrested. They were charged with Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.
Break & Enter:
On January 19th, 2026, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a break and enter in progress. The suspect attempted to force entry through the rear of the residence by damaging a window.
The 47-year-old person from Gananoque was located a short distance away, and was arrested and charged with Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.
Fraud:
On July 1st, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service initiated an investigation after receiving a complaint that a local business had been defrauded.
The investigation determined that an individual hired by the business had been paid by cheque and subsequently altered the cheque on multiple occasions to obtain funds exceeding the amount originally issued.
On September 23rd, 2025, a 43-year-old individual from Brockville was arrested and charged with Fraud Under $5,000 and Make Forged Document. The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions.
On February 2nd, 2026, a 40-year-old individual attended the Gananoque Police Service to admit their involvement in the fraud, advising that they had deposited the altered funds into their own bank account in an amount greater than their accomplice was aware.
As a result, the individual was arrested and charged with Fraud Under $5,000 and Make Forged Document and was released on an appearance notice.
