“Grounds for Growth” Campaign Launches in Brockville: Local Coffee Shops Brew Support for Sherwood Park Manor’s Redevelopment

Brockville – This April, your morning coffee will do more than just provide a caffeine boost – it will help build a new home for Brockville’s seniors and caregiving heroes, who support them.

Sherwood Park Manor is launching “Grounds for Growth,” a month-long community-driven fundraising campaign beginning tomorrow on National Caregiver Day, April 7th. In partnership with kind-hearted downtown staples Cosie’s Café and Richard’s Coffeehouse. The campaign invites Brockville and area residents to support the Manor’s critical redevelopment and local businesses through simple, everyday actions.

Throughout April, coffee enthusiasts can contribute to the campaign at participating locations in two meaningful ways:

  • Round Up Your Order: Customers can round up their purchase to the nearest dollar, with 100% of the change supporting the Manor’s redevelopment.
  • Pay it Forward: Customers can purchase a coffee credit specifically for a local longterm care worker. These credits can be redeemed by long-term care workers throughout the month of April while supplies last at participating coffee shops, offering a small but heartfelt thank-you to those who care for our community’s seniors.

“In a city like Brockville, coffee shops are more than just businesses—they’re community hubs where neighbours connect,” says Lauren Kutchaw, Director of Fundraising & Community Engagement at Sherwood Park Manor. “Sherwood Park Manor serves a similar purpose for our seniors and those most in need. By partnering with local favourites like Cosie’s and Richard’s, we are bridging the gap between our daily rituals and the long-term needs of our health care heroes and the residents they serve.”

The funds raised will support the final leg of Sherwood Park Manor’s capital redevelopment. As a not-for-profit long-term care home, the Manor is undergoing a vital expansion to provide a safe, modern, and dignified facility for the residents of Leeds and Grenville.

“We’re doing this for our customers because they might need Sherwood Park Manor one day; and we may need them one day too,” says Paul Goodyer, owner of Cosie’s Tea Room. “We understand the challenges that come with caring for our seniors, and we’re just happy to
give back and support that effort.”

Residents are encouraged to visit participating shops starting April 7th to show their support. Alanna, manager of Richard’s Coffeehouse, emphasizes the importance of supporting local seniors through this initiative, noting, “It’s not God’s waiting room, it’s a place to live.”
Residents of Brockville and surrounding area are encouraged to visit participating shops starting April 7th to show their support.
