CBSA Find Over $11K Canadian in Undeclared Currency at Port of Entry in Lansdowne

Lansdowne – The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) say their officers found over $11,000 Canadian in undeclared currency from a U.S. traveller recently at the Lansdowne port of entry.

The CBSA said the cash was seized as suspected proceeds of crime, which was discovered in the traveler’s vehicle.

The agency wants to remind travellers that there are no restrictions on the amount of money you can bring into or take out of Canada and it is not illegal to do so; you just need to declare it.

Whether you are leaving or entering Canada, the CBSA says you must declare any currency (cash) or monetary instruments (i.e. cheques, money orders, bank drafts, etc.) valued at CAN$10,000 or more that you are carrying.
