City of Brockville Seasonal Sewer Main Cleaning Has Begun

Brockville – The City of Brockville Wastewater Systems Division has begun the seasonal sewer main cleaning program and is expected to continue until August 2026. This work will take place between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Why are we flushing the mains?

Sewer main cleaning is a critical part of our preventative maintenance program. It helps to:

  • Remove build-up of debris like grease, sand and wipes.
  • Prevent blockages of sewer mains.
  • Improve the overall efficiency of the municipal wastewater collection system.

What to expect

While cleaning is underway, residents in the immediate area may experience:

  • Blowback: You may notice some splashing or bubbling at floor drains, toilets or cleanouts. This is caused by the high-velocity wash water and air moving back up through service laterals.

Recommended Actions for Residents

  • If you see the truck in your area: close or cover any drains in your home.
  • Afterwards, if you notice any odours: run the taps for 30 seconds or pour water down any drains to refill the trap.

Work Area Schedule

Cleaning will occur in select areas across the city. For 2026, crews will be working in:

  • Zone 1-A: West of Beecher St.
  • Zone 1-B: West of Windsor Dr.

We appreciate your patience as we perform this essential maintenance.
