Lansdowne – As part of Operation Safe Driver Week, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in partnership with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Ontario Transportation (MTO), conducted a three-day commercial motor vehicle enforcement initiative at the Lansdowne port of entry.
OPP said from July 14 to 16, 2026, commercial motor vehicles entering Canada through the Lansdowne crossing were inspected by OPP and MTO officers after being cleared by CBSA officers.
During the initiative, 293 commercial motor vehicles were inspected, resulting in the detection of 23 out-of-service defects, four unsafe vehicles towed, and 44 Provincial Offence Notices being issued for a variety of safety-related violations.
Police went on to say that joint enforcement initiatives like this highlight the strong partnerships between the OPP, CBSA and MTO, and our shared commitment to ensuring commercial vehicles operating on Ontario roadways are safe, properly maintained and compliant with applicable legislation.
