Prescott, Brockville to Host St. Lawrence Soccer Programs in High-Caliber International Exhibition Matchups This Month

Canton NY – Prescott and Brockville will host a series of high-caliber international university and college soccer matches, with the St. Lawrence University men’s and women’s programs taking part in exhibition contests during the week of August 22-28, 2026.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to play these teams which are top notch,” said St. Lawrence men’s soccer head coach Mike Toshack. “Last year we played SLC Surge in a very competitive match as well as a 4-4 goal fest in Ottawa with Algonquin. This past spring we had the opportunity to go to Carleton for a friendly in the spring which resulted in a 2-2 draw. So much fun playing these matches in unique settings”

“We are really excited to take the quick trip to Brockville for the second year in a row,” said St. Lawrence women’s head coach Dima Kaliakin. “This is a great competitive test to get our season going. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience last year, and we are appreciative that we are able to be part of such a welcoming and supportive event once again.”

Prescott will host one match as part of an event marking the closing of the iconic Tom Carr Field on Prince Street. The town is preparing to open two new pitches at the Seymour Athletic Complex, which will be ready for use next spring.

The Saints men’s soccer team will face the Carleton University Ravens on August 23 at 3 p.m.

St. Lawrence men’s soccer brings a storied tradition of success, highlighted by multiple Liberty League championships and a national championship. The Saints will return three All-Liberty League performers this season. The Scarlet and Brown are led by Prescott native Mike Toshack, whose coaching experience spans both the NCAA and professional ranks.

Carleton boasts one of the top programs in Canada and has produced multiple Canadian Premier League draft picks, including midfielder Joseph Daher, who was selected seventh overall in the 2026 CPL-U SPORTS Draft. The Ravens are coached by Marcelo Plada, a highly respected and experienced leader.

Brockville will host three matches in total, including two men’s contests and one women’s match at Pat Beasley Field on Laurier Boulevard.

The first match is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, at 10 a.m., when the Saints men’s team takes on SLC Surge Kingston.

SLC Surge Kingston has a strong history of developing talented players. Among its current standouts is Brockville native and Thousand Islands Secondary School graduate Maddix St. Louis, who competes at the collegiate level with the Surge.

On Friday, August 28, the St. Lawrence women’s soccer team will face the Algonquin College Wolves at 5 p.m. at Pat Beasley Field.

The St. Lawrence women, another program with a rich tradition of success, enter their second season under head coach Dima Kaliakin. The Scarlet and Brown are coming off an 8-7-3 campaign and will look to return to the Liberty League playoffs in 2026 and make a run in the conference.

The Algonquin women posted a 10-1 record last season and advanced to the OCAA quarterfinals.

The second match on August 28 will feature the Saints men’s team against the Algonquin College Wolves.

Coached by the accomplished Angus Wong, the Wolves went 9-1-0 in 2025 to finish first in the OCAA East Division. Algonquin advanced to the OCAA semifinals and will provide another strong test for the Saints as they prepare for the regular season.
