
Augusta Twps. – On August 17, 2026, at approximately 1:55 p.m., Augusta Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire at a commercial property on County Road 18.
The Prescott Fire Department also responded under an existing Fire Service Agreement, while the Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Fire Department responded under a reciprocal automatic aid tanker agreement.
The first fire apparatus arrived on scene at approximately 2:05 p.m. Firefighters encountered a multi-unit storage facility with heavy smoke visible from the building.
Fire crews quickly brought the fire under control and prevented further spread. However, multiple storage units sustained fire, smoke and water damage.
A total of 33 firefighters and 12 fire apparatus from the three fire departments responded to the incident.
There were no injuries to firefighters or members of the public.
Due to the extent of the damage within the unit where the fire originated, the cause of the fire could not be determined.
