Rideau Lakes – At approximately 2:20 a.m. on August 16, Leeds & Lanark OPP responded to multiple 911 calls from Bass Lake after residents heard people yelling for help from the water.
Unable to wait for additional marine resources, P/C Taylor, P/C Charbonneau and P/C Thompson acted quickly. With help from a nearby homeowner, they launched a pontoon boat in the darkness and located two people whose boat had overturned.
Both individuals were brought safely to shore. The officers’ decisive actions, teamwork and willingness to act immediately prevented what could have been a devastating outcome.
