Youth Held for Bail Hearing Multiple Times in One Week

Brockville – Last week, between August 24th and August 30th, 2026, a 14-year-old youth was held for a bail hearing by the Brockville Police Service on three separate occasions for various offences.

Since March of this year, the youth has been involved in 33 separate police occurrences and has been held for bail on nine occasions in relation to multiple criminal offences, including but not limited to:

  • Assault x 2
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Assaulting a Peace Officer x 2
  • Failing to Comply with Undertaking Conditions
  • Failing to Comply with Release Order Conditions x 3
  • Failing to Comply with Probation Conditions x 3

The youth was held in custody for the seventh and eighth time since March earlier in the week outlined above for failing to comply with conditions of their bail release.

They were subsequently released on the morning of Saturday, August 29, 2026.

The following day, August 30, 2026, at approximately 6:00pm, police were once again called to the youth’s residence. An investigation revealed that the youth was again in breach of their bail conditions.

Upon arrival, officers placed the youth under arrest, at which time they became agitated. The youth began striking their head against the interior glass partition of the police vehicle, which has been recurring behaviour.

As a result, officers attended Brockville General Hospital to obtain medical attention for a minor self-inflicted injury.

While at the hospital, the youth began consuming the contents of an ice pack. When hospital staff attempted to intervene and provide assistance, the youth began attempting to spit blood at staff members.

The youth was held for a bail hearing on additional counts of failing to comply with their bail conditions. They were subsequently held in custody pending further review in relation to their repeated and violent behaviour.
