Kemptville 73’s Won Their Home Opener, 7-2 Over Nepean Raiders Friday Night in CCHL

Kemptville – The Kemptville 73’s scored seven unanswered goals over the first two periods to defeat the Nepean Raiders 7-2 Friday night at the North Grenville Municipal Centre.

Dickey opened the scoring at 10:07 of the first period before Mbarushimana doubled the advantage on the power play at 13:39, giving Kemptville a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Nepean’s Ncwana cut the deficit to one early in the second, but the 73’s responded with five consecutive goals.

Kealey, Streska, Mbarushimana and Henderson, who scored twice, found the net to put Kemptville ahead 7-1 after 40 minutes.

The Raiders added a late power-play goal from Kinghan at 17:14 of the third, but Kemptville comfortably held on for the victory.

The 73’s dominated offensively, outshooting Nepean 51-19. Turpin earned the win for Kemptville, stopping 17 of 19 shots.

Grant faced a heavy workload for Nepean, making 44 saves on 51 shots.
