Brockville – The 2026 Brockville Butterfly Run was held this past Saturday, October 3rd at the Brockville Railway Tunnel south entrance.

Close to 150 participants came out on Saturday morning raising over $10,000 to help support mothers and families who have experienced the death of an infant.

The donation link at: https://raceroster.com/events/2026/139845/2026-brockville-butterfly-run/leaderboards will remain open for the month of October.

The Brockville Butterfly Run began in 2018 by co-chairs Lesley Patry and Tara Kelly, after Patry’s baby girl, Clemetine, was stillborn in May 2017. According to Patry there were no resources or support in the area for moms experiencing pregnancy loss at that time.

Since then, support has increased through organizations like QueenCare co-founded by Colleen Earle, who lost a baby in 2002 and Pipsy Thomson who along with the Butterfly Run have created loss kits and fund those as well as resource booklets.

The Butterfly Run also supported the acquisition of a cuddle cot that organizers donated to the maternity ward at Brockville General Hospital.

Recently, the run has worked with Lachlan’s Light Canada which is a prominent grief support organization and safe space for bereaved parents navigating pregnancy, infant and child loss raising funds for resources.

Melissa Foley founded Lachlan’s Light after the loss of her son Lachlan in 2016 in Alberta; she now lives in Brockville.

Lachlan’s Light facilitates a monthly support group that QueenCare hosts and for the last five years they have held retreats for grieving parents.
