Brockville – The City of Brockville officially marked the beginning of construction on the Reynolds Park Pavilion and Boardwalk Project on Friday, October 9th announcing that the new waterfront structure will be named the Ben TeKamp Pavilion in honour of former Mayor Ben TeKamp.
Mayor Matthew Wren was joined by members of Council, community partners and members of the TeKamp family for the sod-turning and naming ceremony at Reynolds Park.

The project includes the construction of the new pavilion and boardwalk along the St. Lawrence River, creating additional space for residents and visitors to gather and enjoy Brockville’s waterfront.
As part of the long-term development plans for Reynolds Park, the project represents another step toward completing the City’s long-term vision for the site. Construction is expected to continue into spring 2027.
The naming recognizes TeKamp’s contributions to the community, including his involvement in the early discussions and negotiations that led to the City’s acquisition of the Reynolds Park property. TeKamp served as Mayor of Brockville from 1997 to 2006 and was a longtime advocate for public waterfront access.
“I can think of no more fitting tribute to a man whose leadership helped secure these lands for public use, whose passion for rowing connected him so closely to the waterfront, and whose vision helped make projects like Reynolds Park Possible,” said Mayor Matthew Wren.
The Brockville Rotary Club has supported the project through an engraved brick fundraising campaign, contributing more than $75,000 toward its development. Their contribution will also be recognized through the display of the Rotary gear within the new pavilion.
The project is an $789,000 investment, with the $75,000 from the Rotary Clubs, the rest will come from the city’s capital budget.
Construction of the new pavilion is to start this month, with the project being done by Kehoe Construction. The work is expected to be done in December.
During construction, the Reynolds Park parking lot and the section of the Brock Trail passing through the park will be temporarily closed. Residents are encouraged to follow City communications for construction updates and information about public access.
