Brockville – A Winter weather travel advisory is in effect for Wednesday and Wednesday night for Brockville, Prescott, Merrickville-Wolford and Kemptville. A Snow Squall Watch is in effect for Westport – Charleston Lake, Gananoque and Mallorytown for Wednesday.
Winter weather travel advisory – Brockville, Prescott, Merrickville-Wolford and Kemptville:
A low-pressure system will bring heavy snow at times to the area beginning Wednesday morning. The snow is expected to taper off Thursday morning.
Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
Snow with accumulations near 10 cm with reduced visibility at times in heavy snow.
Snow Squall Watch – Westport – Charleston Lake, Gananoque and Mallorytown:
Snow squalls are possible on Wednesday. Lake effect snow squalls over Lake Ontario could move inland early Wednesday morning, affecting Highway 401 during the morning commute. Snow squalls may move in and out of the area Wednesday before moving back south over the lake Wednesday night.
Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations near 20 cm. Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 5 cm per hour. Very poor visibility at times in heavy snow.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.
