Brockville – A 23-year-old male driver is facing impaired driving and other charges after being pulled over for speeding by Brockville Police.
Police say around 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22nd, police were monitoring traffic speeds on Stewart Boulevard when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. It was determined that the vehicle was travelling 92km/h, which is 42km/h over the posted speed limit.
They pulled over the motorist and believed the driver may have consumed alcohol. A breath sample was taken with a roadside screening device, and it resulted in a fail, according to police.
The driver was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing, which confirmed that the driver was impaired.
Police say the vehicle was impounded, his driver’s licence suspended, and the driver was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration over 80mg, driving a motor vehicle performing a stunt and failing to surrender insurance.
The driver was released with a future court date.
