Annual Brockville & Area Sports Hall of Fame Kinsmen Awards Dinner Held on Thursday evening at the Memorial Centre

Brockville – The 31st Annual Brockville & Area Sports Hall of Fame Weekend began on Thursday evening with the annual Brockville & Area Sports Hall of Fame Kinsmen Awards Dinner held at the Memorial Centre.

Defenceman Simon Mack won this year’s Brockville Sports Person of the Year. Mack led Penn State to an NCAA Frozen Four appearance for the first time in the school’s history this past season.

Sports Team of the Year went to the TISS Senior Boys Basketball team. The team finished this year with a record of 47 wins and just two losses.

As well, Janet Wynands won the Coach of the Year Award, and Vicki Sargeant won the Volunteering Award.

And the 5 new members of the Sports Hall of Fame were honored at the dinner last night, Darren Burns, Whit Prophet, Kevin MacDonald, Jacquie Rasenberg and Stan Smith.

The 5 new members will be inducted into the hall of fame tonight, starting at 5:30 pm at the Memorial Centre.
