Grenville County – Auto theft isn’t just a big city issue — it’s affecting our communities too.
Grenville OPP is investigating several vehicle thefts recently where criminals have been placing AirTags or similar tracking devices on vehicles after visits to major cities, then show up — often in the middle of the night — to steal them.
Protect yourself by:
- Always lock your vehicle and remove keys/fobs
- Park in well-lit areas or a garage when possible
- Do a quick visual check of your car: behind the licence plates, fuel doors, bumpers and wheel wells
- iPhone users will get a notification if an unknown AirTag is travelling with them
- Android users can download Tracker Detect from the Play Store to scan for nearby AirTags.
If you find a suspicious device or notice anything unusual, contact OPP or your local police service at 1-888-310-1122. Stay one step ahead!
