Brockville – COULDA..WOULDA…SHOULDA! The nationally ranked Rockland Nationals are an elite team. They are aggressive, disciplined and always the first man in on the puck.
Last night, they were vulnerable. The Braves hit the goal post in the first period and were unable to convert the breakaways they had; otherwise, perhaps a different tale.
Video Highlights:
Our D corps had another strong game, Austin Caley continues to show his stuff, and our hometown boys are proving their worth. Sled has fit in very nicely with his linemates and almost notched his 2nd of the season. Cohen Gill picked up an assist on the Braves’ lone goal and was oh so close to getting one in the second period. Carter Cuglietta took a regular shift, killed penalties, and his persistent hustle got him a couple of breakaways. Captain Kayden Buller has really stepped up his game this year and is a force on the ice.
The three Rockland goals were the kind of goals an elite team scores. Le Houillier scored on a power play, his 18th of the year, on a screened shot through a maze of players. Brunet converted a picture-perfect pass on a 2-on-1 that Caley had no chance at. Pierson was Johnny on the spot as the puck rebounded off the backboards, and he tucked it away for the Nats’ 3rd goal.
The Braves’ lone goal was the fruit of some hard work and goalmouth play. It was Jack Lowry to Cohen Gill, who took the initial shot and then Dryden Dirvish dug out the rebound and buried it.
