Braves Lost Their Last Two Regular Season Games Ove the Weekend

Braves Playoffs Begin Next Week With Quarter-final Series with the Smiths Falls Bears!

Brockville – The Brockville Braves lost their last two regular season games over the weekend.

On Friday they lost a 5-1 decision to the Smiths Falls Bears at the Memorial Centre. Then on Sunday, they lost 6-5 in a shootout to the Rockland Nationals.

The Brockville Braves have finished the regular season in seventh place. They will face the second place Smiths Falls Bears in the opening round of the playoffs which begins with home game dates of Sunday, March 22, Thursday, March 26, and Sunday, March 29, if necessary, with all games starting at 7 p.m.

The Braves’ home games will be played at the Youth Arena due to the replacement of the roof at the Memorial Centre.

Sunday: Braves 5 – Rockland 6 in Shootout

The Rockland Nationals defeated the Brockville Braves 6–5 in a shootout on Sunday night at the Brockville Memorial Centre.

Landry opened the scoring from Micallef and Sasseville, and Baril added another from Seydi and Labre. Brockville responded with four straight goals from Lumsden twice, Eccleston, and Sled before Sasseville scored late in the period from Landry and Micallef.

Parry tied the game in the second from Garneau and Baril. Sasseville gave Rockland the lead in the third from Laframboise and Pomerleau, but an own-goal from the Nationals forced overtime.

Sasseville scored the shootout winner, while Ferguson stopped all three shooters faced. Ferguson made 29 saves on 34 shots, while Li stopped 35 of 40.

Friday: Smiths Falls 5, Brockville 1

The Smiths Falls Bears picked up a 5–1 victory over the Brockville Braves on Friday night at the Brockville Memorial Centre.

Video Highlights:

Hockenhull opened the scoring on the power play from Veltkamp and Childerhose before Brockville answered with Vohra from Dervish and Buller.

Smiths Falls pulled away with goals by Veltkamp from Heron and Green, and Childerhose from Blais and Dudziak in the second. Larkin added a power-play goal and Heron scored from Veltkamp in the third.

Heideman made 20 saves on 21 shots for the win, while Li stopped 21 of 26 shots for Brockville.
