
Brockville – My FM 104.9’s Bruce Wylie is set to retire on Tuesday, April 7th with his last time on-air on Tuesday morning. Wylie has been broadcasting at CFJR for 55 years, starting in in 1971.
The community will be celebrating Wylie’s 55 years in radio broadcasting and his retirement on Tuesday evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 96 in Brockville. All are welcomed.
As well, two weeks ago, the City of Brockville declared April 7th as Bruce Wylie day, in recognition of his many years on-air and retirement.
“The proclamation was made in celebration of Wylie’s fifty-five years in radio as the “unmistakable voice of Brockville, distinguishing himself through an extraordinary and influential broadcasting career,” said City Council.
It went on to say, ““His tireless commitment to community service has helped raise millions of dollars in support of charitable organizations, improving the lives of countless residents. Wylie also has enriched the cultural fabric of our community by championing local heritage and talent, including the establishment of the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame, the Brockville and Area Music and Performing Arts Hall of Fame, and by playing a pivotal role in the creation of beloved community traditions such as Riverfest and the Ookpik Winter Carnival, among many other initiatives.”
“Brockville City Council formally recognizes and commends Bruce Wylie for his extraordinary contributions, his exemplary service, and his enduring legacy within our community; and that Council hereby proclaims Tuesday, April 7, 2026, as Bruce Wylie Appreciation Day in the City of Brockville, in honour of his remarkable impact and lifelong dedication to the people he has so faithfully served,” the proclamation stated.
Bruce Wylie’s final live on-air is between 6:00 am and 10:00 am on MyFM 104.9 tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7th. His retirment party will be hedl from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Brockville Legion, all are welcome.
