Brockville – On April 23, 2026, at approximately 5:30pm, police were made aware of an active structure fire at a residence on Brock Street. An officer on patrol was approached by a member of the public who alerted them to the fire. Upon arrival, it was determined that a fire had started at 114 Brock Street and had quickly spread to a neighbouring residence at 112 Brock Street.

Out of concern for public safety, the officer conducted a check of both residences and entered the secondary residence at 112 Brock Street. While inside, the officer located an occupant who had been napping and immediately assisted them to safety. Both the occupant and the officer received medical attention for smoke inhalation. Their injuries are considered non-life-threatening and no one else was harmed.

The Brockville Fire Department responded promptly and worked diligently to contain the fire, successfully preventing further spread to surrounding structures. Fire suppression efforts continued for several hours into the night. Police remain on scene alongside firefighters, who will continue their work during daylight hours. At that time, a determination will be made regarding the involvement of the Office of the Fire Marshal.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is being treated as suspicious until proven otherwise. We ask for the public’s continued patience and cooperation as emergency services work in the area to ensure safety is fully restored.

The Brockville Police Service is proud of the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved in this unfortunate incident. In particular, the heroic actions of Constable Tyler Harrison are recognized and commended. His quick thinking and selfless response directly prevented further harm and exemplify the dedication and professionalism of the officers who serve and protect the Brockville community.
