City of Brockville Annual Traffic Counting Operations Now Underway

Brockville – Residents may notice City vehicles parked near intersections throughout Brockville over the coming weeks as annual traffic counting operations take place.

Each May, the City conducts manual traffic counts at intersections across the community to help the Transportation Division better understand traffic flow and driver behaviour. Counts are typically completed during peak traffic periods in approximately two-hour intervals.

The information collected helps support:

• Transportation planning and future road design
• Monitoring traffic patterns in growing areas of the city
• Responding to traffic volume concerns and resident complaints
• Maintaining up-to-date traffic data on major routes
• Some intersections are selected based on development activity or areas experiencing increased growth, while others are part of a rotating cycle to ensure current data is available when needed.

Traffic counting operations are expected to continue through June.

There will be no traffic disruptions associated with this work.
