Brockville – On June 10, 2026, at approximately 3:30pm, police received a report of a distraction-style theft in the area of Pearl Street West.
The incident took place when a black SUV pulled up in front of a residential property. The occupants of the vehicle, described as a male driver and a female passenger seated in the back, asked the homeowner for directions to a nearby Catholic church.
When the complainant attempted to assist, the female suspect engaged her in conversation and offered her a piece of gold jewelry to try on. While placing the jewelry on the complainant, the suspect removed the complainant’s personal necklace without consent and replaced it with a fake piece.
The suspects then fled the area in the vehicle, last seen travelling westbound on Pearl Street.
Police are reminding residents to remain vigilant when interacting with unknown individuals, particularly in situations involving unsolicited offers or close physical contact.
