VIDEO: 3rd annual Paul Gill Memorial Fishing Derby was held Saturday, July 25th

Brockville – The third annual Paul Gill Memorial Fishing Derby was held this past Saturday along the St, Lawrence and at Hardy Park in Brockville.

The derby celebrates Paul Gill’s life, his love of fishing, and his reputation as a generous community builder whose influence continues to inspire others and hosted by Their Opportunity

Their Opportunity is national children’s charity that delivers & subsidizes local sport for development & community engagement programming. Our programs & services help eliminate barriers of access & promote a lifestyle of giving back, empowering youth to reach their full potential.

  • The winners of the fishing derby were announced around 2:00pm on Saturday.
  • The first award was the Biggest Fish in the adult division which was awarded to Justin Erwin, catching a Pike at 6lbs 12 ounces.
  • The second award was the Biggest Fish in the Geezer Division which was awarded to Ed Boyd, who caught a 7lbs 1 ounce Walleye.
  • The third award was for Biggest Bass won by Brock Lariviere with his 4 pound 5 ounces catch.
  • The fourth award was The Big Three Boat Total, the biggest three at 13lbs 1 ounce went to Steven Brower, Cali Ryley and Casey Ryley.
  • The fifth and final award and near and dear to Paul Gill was the Youth Biggest Fish which was awarded to William Consantos for his catch of a 3lb 3 ounce Bass.

The event also featured some kids games and live music by Amanda Keeley in the afternoon.

Also a special award was given out at the end, The Pauly Prize, which carries out the legacy of Paul Gill. This year’s recipient was Joan Simon.
