Brockville – Brockville police say that on January 1, 2024, at around 2:00 am, officers were conducting a RIDE program in the area of King St. West in the city.
During that time a 31-year-old, female, was operating a vehicle approaching the officers and struck the curb. Police say a roadside breath sample was taken, which, registered a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and taken in for further testing.
Further investigation revealed that she had cannabis readily available while driving and was in possession of contraband cigarettes as well the testing confirmed that she was operating the vehicle while over the legal limit.
The driver was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg, driving a vehicle with cannabis in open baggage and possession of unmarked cigarettes.
Police say she was released once sober with conditions and a future court date.
