Brockville – Brockville City Council held their first council meeting since before the holidays on Thursday evening and the budget process resumed after the break.
Mayor Matt Wren said before the budget process began that council is “kind of in the same vicinity of tax increase that we faced last year, without making any changes.” he went on to say, “I’m not so sure our residents are up to facing that sort of increase two years in a row”
He went on to say, “If you are looking at other communities, we’re not the only ones that are dealing with high inflation and the impacts of that.”
Council heard reports from the city’s partners and the capital budget on Thursday evening. The capital budget is looking at a proposed increase of about $2 million.
