Brockville Police Reports – May 8, 2023:Shoplifting, Motor Vehicle Collision, Robbery with a Weapon

Brockville – Police reports from the Brockville Police Service from May 6th to 7th, 2023.

Shoplifter Charged:

On May 6, 2023, at about 5:00 PM, police received a call regarding a 34-year-old male, at the Real Canadian SuperStore on Parkedale Ave. While in the store, the male concealed multiple items in a bag. He proceeded to the checkout area where he paid for some of the items, however, made no attempt to pay for several other items in the bag. The male attempted to exit the store and was confronted by Loss Prevention. Police were notified and attended. The subject was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000.00 and was released shortly after with a future court date.

Motor Vehicle Collision:

On May 6, 2023, at about 11:00 AM, police were notified of a motor vehicle collision that took place at the intersection of Stewart Blvd and Centennial Rd. Investigation revealed that one vehicle travelling southbound at that intersection collided with another vehicle travelling westbound. This collision caused one of the vehicles to overturn. Emergency services attended, which included Brockville Fire Department and Paramedics. Six occupants involved in the collision were taken to the Brockville General Hospital for medical assistance. Injuries are all considered non-life-threatening. A 69-year-old male was determined to be at fault for the collision and was charged with careless driving.

Robbery with a Weapon:

On May 7, 2023, at about 4:30 PM, police received a call regarding a fight taking place at a residence on George St. Police quickly responded to the scene and learned that a 24-year-old male had attended to a residence to confront his mother, as he felt that she owed him money. This turned into an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation. The male then brandished a knife and took his mother’s cell phone as collateral for the debt. He left the residence and police located him a short distance from the scene. He was arrested, charged and held for bail for the offences of robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats and failing to comply with probation. The mother did not receive medical attention.
