Brockville Police Reports – May 16, 2023: Stabbing Incident, Mental Distress in Creek, Mischief to Property, Disturbance

Brockville – Police reports from the Brockville Police Service from May 13th to 16th, 2023.

Stabbing Incident:

On Sunday, May 14, 2023, at approximately 7:00 pm members of the Brockville Police Service responded to a call of a stabbing that had occurred at a south-end residence. The 40yr old male victim was transported to hospital where he remains in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing. If you have any information relating to this incident, please contact Det. Mental Distress:

On May 16, 2023, at approximately 4:30 PM, police responded to a call of a female in distress in a creek in the area of Gilmour St. Officers arrived and along with the assistance of a citizen as well as the Brockville Fire Department and Paramedics. It was learned the female was in mental distress, in the water believed to be having suicidal thoughts. With a collaborative effort from everyone at the scene, the female was pulled from the creek. She was assessed and taken to the Brockville General Hospital for care. The actions of everyone at the scene are what contributed to the positive outcome in this incident.

Mischief to Property Leads to Arrest:

On May 16, 2023, at about 3:00 AM, police received a call to attend a residence in the area of George St., regarding a female banging on doors and windows. Officers arrived and learned that a door to the residence had been damaged. The female was identified to be a 23-year-old, female. The female was located a short time later in the area of King St. W and John St. She was placed under arrest and charged with mischief under $5,000.00. She was released with conditions and a future court date.

Disturbance Leads to Charges of Assault:

On May 13, 2023, at about 1:00 AM, police received a call regarding a possible fight in the area of The Bar located at King St. W. and John St. Officers attended and investigation revealed that a 25-year-old, male, had been involved in a dispute with another male, at the establishment. This incident escalated to the point that the 25-year-old, male, struck another male in the head and face several times.

Two other males attempted to intervene and stop the fight, however, they received injuries during the events as well. The injuries are all considered non-life-threatening. The male subject identified as the one responsible, had left just prior to police arrival. He was located in the nearby area by police and arrested. Due to the types of injuries, he was charged with two counts of assault causing bodily harm, assault, failure to comply with probation and breach of recognizance. He was released with conditions and a future court date.
