Spencerville – The Spencerville Mill & Museum is excited to announce their Canoe Poker Run on the South Nation River, taking place on Saturday, May 27. Paddlers have been enjoying this annual event for over 15 years.

This exciting event will bring together participants of all ages and skill levels for a fun-filled morning on the water. The Canoe Poker Run combines the pleasure of canoeing with the excitement of poker. Participants will paddle their way down the South Nation River, stopping at designated checkpoints to receive a playing card. The best poker hands at the end of the route will win prizes. The total prize money is $500.

Registration for the event is open and costs $25 per adult and $10 per child under 12 years. Participants are encouraged to register online with Eventbrite, although those without computer/internet access may register in person on the morning of the event. It all gets started at 9 am at O’Hagen’s Bridge on County Road 18 north of Prescott, south of Roebuck. All paddling vessels are welcome.

At the end of the paddle route, a BBQ lunch will be provided by the Spencerville & District Optimist Club in Mill Park. The Spencerville Mill Foundation is grateful for the partnerships and support of the Grenville Fish and Game Club as well as South Nation Conservation.

“The Canoe Poker Run is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and have some fun with friends and family,” said Mary Tessier, organizing volunteer. “We encourage everyone to come out and join us for a morning of paddling and poker on the beautiful South Nation River. Proceeds from this event support our beautiful heritage grist mill, Spencerville Mill & Museum.”
