NORTH GRENVILLE:
Traffic, Drugs/Liquor Charges
On May 23, 2023 shortly before 7:00 a.m., Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in the area of Bridge Street North, in Kemptville and as a result of the investigation the driver was arrested.
A 37-year-old man from Kemptville, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) , Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA), Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA), Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA) with;
Failure or refusal to comply with demand – CC
Possession of a schedule one substance – CDSA
Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor – LLCA
Having liquor in open container in unauthorized place – LLCA
Novice driver fail to surrender licence – HTA
Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle – HTA
Permit use of plate not authorized for vehicle – HTA
Fail to have insurance card – CAIA
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
Inpaired Driving
On May 27, 2023, at around 4:30 pm, Grenville County Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to driving complaint in the area of River Road in North Grenville. The vehicle and driver were located a short time later. As a result of the investigation the driver was arrested and transported to the Kemptville OPP detachment for further testing.
A 53-year-old man from Ottawa, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with;
Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs – CC
Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration – CC
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
Edwardsburgh-Cardinal:
Impaired/Careless Driving
On May 27, 2023, at around 7:00 pm, Grenville County Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a single vehicle collision in the area of County Road 22, Edwardsburgh Township. After a brief investigation the driver of the vehicle was arrested.
A 23-year-old man from South Dundas, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with;
Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs – CC
Failure or refusal to comply with demand – CC
Careless driving – HTA
Novice driver fail to provide breath sample – HTA
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
Impaired Driving
On May 27, 2023, at around 7:00 pm, Grenville County Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 401 in Edwardsburgh Township. Officers located the vehicle and after a brief investigation the driver of the vehicle was arrested.
A 32-year-old woman from Terrebonne, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with;
Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs – CC
Failure or refusal to comply with demand – CC
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
