Brockville & Area Sports Hall of Fame Will Add 5 New Inductees This Friday, June 9th

The Hall of Fame Kinsmen Sports Award Banquet Being Held Thursday Evening

Brockville – This year’s Brockville and area Sports Hall of Fame sports awards banquet and induction ceremony are being held this Thursday, June 8th and Friday, June 9th at the Brockville Memorial Centre.

On Thursday evening starting at 6:00 pm is the Kinsmen Sports Award Banquet where those in attendance will vote for the following:

Sports Person of the Year:

Skier Jacob Durepos,
Track Star Travis Gaffney,
Para Swimmer Jack Gill,
Equestrian Gillian Merkley,
Hockey Player Gavin White.

On Friday starting at 5:30 pm, five new people will be inducted into the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame at the Memorial Centre.

This year’s inductees are:

Ken Lynch,
Eric Pattison,
Cindy Scott,
Ron Trussell
Bruce Wylie

Ken Lynch has refereed basketball for over 46 years; Eric Pattison has been instrumental in the area sports and recreation for the past 40 plus years with soccer, minor hockey and as head coach at St. Lawrence College for soccer, curling and badminton; Cindy Scott a TISS basketball star who helped the Pirates to three consecutive OFSAA Titles, Ron Trussell who was a hockey star and member of the Inkerman rockets; and Bruce Wylie founder of the Hall of Fame and organizer for the Bruce Wylie Golf Tournament for 20 years and the HOF tournament for another 20.

They will be joining the 150 other Hall of Famers.

The Hall of Fame Committee also selected Roy Brooks for the Coaching Award and Ken Allen for the Volunteering Award.
