Brockville – Volunteer Coach, Roy Brooks received this year’s Coach of the Year Award at the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame Awards held on Thursday, June 8th.
The Coaching Award was presented by Dane Fellow during the Sports Hall of Fame Dinner.
Roy Brooks has been/is a critical volunteer for Brockville and Area Special Olympics. He held Brockville and Area Special Olympics together in the critical period when there were few volunteers and the organization could have easily closed down.
This would have left a big hole in the lives of the 10 to 12 athletes who were actively participating at the time.
Now, with approximately 70 athletes Brockville and Area Special Olympics is fortunate to still have Roy’s abilities to communicate and develop effective relationships with the SOO athletes, all of which help them build confidence and improve their health and well-being.
