Brockville – The community came out on Saturday to support Slater Doran, the 18-year-old Brockville Collegiate Institute student undergoing stem cell treatment for testicular cancer at Kingston General Hospital’s Cancer Centre of Eastern Ontario.

The ‘Do It For Slater’ event was held at the Brockville Memorial Centre organized by a number of people including family friends Dane Fellows and wife, Ciara Auriemma.

It featured live music by local bands, a BBQ, bouncy castles for the kids, displays by the Brockville Police Service, OPP, a car wash by the Brockville Fire Department, Hydroplance displays, Brockville Braves and a dunk tank supported by various celebrities and dignitaries throughout the day.

Slater could not make the day as he is in Kingston for treatment, but he and his mother appeared via a live stream at the event.

There was no admission, but there were freewill offerings and various independent fundraisers raising funds for ‘Do It For Slater. A total amount was not available at the time.

As well starting this Wednesday there will be an online auction with over 1,000 items running until June 30th through Rideau Auctions. There will be a link posted on the Brockville Hyundai Facebook page.
