Beacon Bags 5K Walk 4 Freedom Happening This Saturday in Brockville, Prescott & Cornwall

UPDATE: The Walks Still a Go Rain or Shine!

Brockville & Prescott – Beacon Bags, Sharing a Light on Human Trafficking is hosting a 5K Walk 4 Freedom Fundraiser this Saturday, October 21st in Brockville, Prescott and Cornwall.

Join them, as they walk united, bringing awareness to Human Trafficking. Together we can make a difference.

UPDATE from the organizers:

“ATTENTION to those who are considering participating in our walk tomorrow in either of these towns. We will walk! After much consideration, I have decided not to cancel this walk.

Here’s my why:

The people we represent have endured much worse conditions and I never want to lose my focus on why we do what we do. It’s not about convenience and comfort. Therefore, the walk will happen. We will dress accordingly and use umbrellas and boots. I’ll waterproof the signs today so as not to destroy them in the rain. Use your own judgement on whether you participate by walking or not. If you have received sponsors and choose not to walk We will gladly refund those sponsors. I have asked those who pray to pray we are safe and don’t get sick. You can pray for that as well. Thank you.”

In Brockville registration opens at 8:15 a.m. with the walk starting at 8:45 a.m. at the West side of Hardy Park.

In Prescott registration begins at 11:00 am with the walk starting at 11:30 am at Seaway Christian Church.

In Cornwall registration opens at 2:00 p.m. with the walk beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Cornwall Pentecostal Church.

Registration is $20 without sponsorships.

All proceeds will go towards building a safe shelter in Eastern Ontario for the rescued victims of Human Trafficking.
