Merrickville – The Food Cupboard program, a part of the Health Promotion programming in Merrickville at Rideau Community Health Services is excited to be welcoming the CPKC Holiday Train back to the village on Monday, November 27th, 2023 at 4:45 PM.

This is the 25th year the Holiday Train has been supporting food banks and food shelves across their network by raising money, food and awareness for food insecurity issues. Since its inception in 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train has raised more than $22.5 million and more than 5 million pounds of food for community food banks across North America.

The brightly lit train will stop at the East Broadway and County Road 2 tracks spreading Christmas cheer and FREE live entertainment. Watch for social media posts and community posters for updates on who will entertain us!

The CPKC Holiday Train collections will assist the RCHS Food Cupboard program, House of Lazarus in Mountain, and South Grenville Food Bank (covering Townships of Augusta, Edwardsburg – Cardinal and the Town of Prescott) in meeting the ever-increasing demands of food insecurity in our communities. We would like to extend a special thank you to everyone for their continued support of their local food banks. Food banks are struggling to keep up with the changing needs and demand for our services in our communities.

Please help us spread the word about the CPKC Holiday Train and all its wonder is coming back to the village by following the train on social media, inviting your friends and family to the evening and spreading the message about the importance of heart-healthy donations by using #HealthyDonations. Supporters can follow the CPKC Holiday Train on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @CPHolidayTrain. Use #CPHolidayTrain as you track the progress of the train across North America.

Thank you to those who are contributing to planning this event. The hard work and dedication ensure that all attending will have a safe and successful night!
