Brockville Police Received Numerous Complaints About Distraction Thefts on Friday

Brockville – City Police received multiple complaints regarding distraction thefts at various locations across Brockville on Friday, February 2nd. Two suspects still at large.

Police say the theft locations were reported from the Superstore, Food Basics and Giant Tiger. They say it is important to note that there could be others that have not yet been noticed or reported.

An investigation revealed that two male suspects were involved. See the attached photographs for the best description.

Police went on to say that the suspects were targeting females and attempting to distract them to secretly steal their purses or wallets. Multiple items were taken and fraudulent transactions were made on victims’ financial cards.

In one incident according to police, at Food Basics, the victim became aware of what was happening and engaged in a tug-of-war over her purse. She was successful in retaining her purse and the suspects quickly fled. These suspects are yet to be identified.

Brockville Police are asking you to please be aware when out in public if you see anyone matching these descriptions.
