
Gananoque – The Leeds County OPP have confirmed the identity of human remains found on May 19th on an island on the St. Lawrence River near Gananoque to be an individual reported missing earlier this year.
Police say the deceased was a 68-year-old man from the area. The individual’s name will not be released out of respect for the family’s privacy.
On Monday, May 19, 2025, members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an island when an individual reported making the discovery. The Leeds County OPP Crime Unit conducted a detailed investigation, and it has been determined that there was no foul play.
