Brockville – At their last council meeting last Tuesday, city council gave final approval for more condominium conversions.
The final approval for Condominium Conversions of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 Cartier Court and 1390, 1400 and 1410 Kensington Parkway from rental residential apartments to condominium residential apartments was approved.
The current tenants will have the first right to purchase their unit at a price no higher than that price for which the units are offered to the general public. Written confirmation must be provided to the City of Brockville that each tenant was given the first right to purchase their unit and that, if a purchase was not made, the tenant has declined the offer.
If they do not purchase their unit, their residential tenancy will remain unchanged. A letter sent to the tenants also outlines their rights, and the assistance provided should they need to relocate from their residence due to the conversion. This includes relocation costs within Leeds and Grenville to a similar type of rental unit.
