Brockville – The Brockville Police Service is advising the public that local emergency services have responded to an increased number of suspected drug overdose calls within the community recently.
The Southeast Public Health Unit has reported a higher-than-usual number of drug poisoning-related incidents. At this time, the substances involved are unknown, and it remains unclear whether this represents a sustained increase in drug-related harms in the area.
Police encourage members of the community to remain vigilant and recognize that the unregulated drug supply can be unpredictable and may contain potentially dangerous substances.
Residents, service providers, and community partners are encouraged to ensure naloxone kits are readily available and to report any concerns regarding increased overdoses, changes in the local drug supply, or substances producing unexpected effects.
Anyone experiencing or witnessing a suspected overdose should call 9-1-1 immediately.
The Brockville Police Service will continue work closely with local health and emergency service partners.
