
Brockville – Brockville Police have arrested a youth after he was found speeding on an electric dirt bike, with no license or insurance.
The Brockville Police Service has received an increased number of complaints regarding electric bikes, particularly dirt bikes, riding in a manner that is a nuisance and dangerous to pedestrians.
Police say around 9:30 am on July 11th, a youth was operating an electric dirt bike in the area of Parkedale Avenue and North Augusta Road. The bike was found to be speeding and was not displaying license plates.
The bike was stopped by police, and the rider was identified, revealing that the rider did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance.
Police removed the bike from the roadway, and the youth was charged with unlawfully driving an off-road vehicle on a highway, driving off-road vehicle with no insurance, driving off-road vehicle – no number plate and driving a motor vehicle with no license.
Police say the driver was issued a future court date, and parents were notified.
