
Brockville – The Brockville Police Service has been made aware of issues circulating on social media regarding an incident on the Brock Trail on June 5th, 2025, where a 47-year-old, deceased male, was located in the creek near the Brock Street Park.
The investigation conducted by the Brockville Police Service and the Office of the Chief Coroner has confirmed that the incident does not pose any threat to public safety and that foul play is not suspected in the death.
Three individuals have subsequently been charged with offences relating to the use of the debit card belonging to the 47-year-old, deceased male. Investigators have confirmed that this activity is not connected to the cause of death.
Regarding information that is released to the public, the Brockville Police Service takes many factors into consideration and has the deepest concern for public safety. These various factors are not steadfast, routine, or appropriate in every case.
The following are factors that are considered but not limited to; privacy and dignity of victims and their families, acts of a Good Samaritan, investigative integrity, empathy towards those with mental illness and/or addiction, the need to publicize information to identify potential victims of crime and give them courage to come forward, and most importantly, the level of risk to public safety.
