
Rideau Lakes – Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual with serious offences, including attempt to murder a child.
On Friday, September 26, 2025, shortly before 9:00 a.m., members of the Leeds County OPP, assisted by the Leeds County OPP Crime Unit, began an intimate partner violence and child abuse investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
Attempt to commit murder
Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age causes bodily harm
Sexual interference
Forcible confinement – two counts
Assault with a weapon – two counts
Assault cause bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle – two counts
Assault – two counts
Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – two counts
Intimidation – use or threat of violence
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville at a later date.
