Brockville – The St. Lawrence Writers Festival is hosting a fundraiser this Saturday, November 1st, at Arts Hub Brockville.
The first fundraiser for the 2026 festival is the show “ABD with Mark the C”. ADB stands for Allistonian Brockvillian Dionysian.
The Flying Dutchman wasn’t just a legendary ghost ship, but also the name of a motel six miles west of Brockville on Highway 2, where you could find the Lost Highway Lounge and a Saturday Night Fever-inspired disco dance floor.
It was owned by the Cassidy family, whose son Mark was the weekend DJ – Mark the C, the vinyl king. The motel may be long gone, but Mark’s memories remain.
“Inspired by Spalding Gray, Mark created theatre pieces with his indie company Threshold Theatre. Mark’s navigating his memories of growing up at the Flying Dutchman, so don’t miss the hilarious ride. Reviews say his storytelling is like Stuart Maclean’s, but we think he’s even funnier.”
The show is being held this Saturday, November 1st, at Arts Hub Brockville, 32 Park Street, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 pm.
Tickets are $25 and are available at: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/abd-with-mark-the-c-allistonian-brockvillian-dionysian-tickets-1754934399029
Tickets are also available at the door (Cash, Credit and Debit)
