Vehicle Stopped After Initially Fleeing From OPP

Edwardsburgh-Cardinal – Two people are facing charges after a vehicle, which initially fled from officers, was stopped in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Township.
Officers with the Grenville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation on Thursday, January 8, 2026, around 2:00 a.m. on County Road 2 in Cardinal. The vehicle fled at high speed. Officers did not conduct a pursuit for safety reasons.
The car was spotted a short time later by Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP officers in Morrisburg. The officers followed the vehicle to the Iroquois area, where Grenville OPP officers utilized a spike belt and other measures to safely stop the vehicle. Two people were arrested without further incident. There were no injuries, although one OPP cruiser was struck by the vehicle.
Officers seized a firearm and an imitation firearm, as well as cannabis and other substances and suspected stolen property.
Joshua LAMOUREUX, age 39 of North Grenville, has been charged with:
- Flight from a peace officer – two counts
- Dangerous operation of a vehicle
- Driving while under suspension
- Using an unauthorized plate for a vehicle
- Driving with cannabis readily available
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Failing to comply with a release order
- Failure to comply with a release order
Joyce LA FRANCE, age 42 of Elizabethtown Township, has been charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Obstructing a peace officer
The investigation is continuing, and additional charges are pending.
Both individuals are scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
